DID YOU KNOW...

...MEDICARE MAY COVER AIR AMBULANCE TRANSPORTATION?

On occasion some of our clients have had the need for air ambulance transport.

Medicare guidelines require that a patient's condition be such that one's life would be endangered if transported by conventional means. If grond transportation would take 30 to 60 minutes to reach a facility, air transport would be considered.

Normally Medicare requires that a patient be transported to the closest facility able to provide the necessary level of care. Medicare may also cover hospital to hospital transfer by air ambulance if the first facility is unable to meet the level of care necessary to treat the patient.

Q & A

Question

What can I do to help save Medicare?

Answer

Millions of dollars are paid each year by Medicare to providers or suppliers who have submitted false claims. The most important way to help Medicare is to monitor the statements Medicare sends you.

Medicare sends an explanation of benefits to you for any service you receive from a provider or supplier explaining the total charged amount, the total approved amount, the amount paid and the patient responsibility. If you receive a statement from Medicare for any doctor you are not familiar with or for any services not rendered, please contact us and we can review the matter with you. If necessary, we will contact Medicare to have them investigate your concern.

A New Format

Starting with this publication, our newsletter will be published quarterly. If you have questions or topics you would like us to research, please send it to us. We will make every effort to obtain the information and publish it in a future newsletter. We have also deleted the Birthday Wishes portion of the publication to provide more information.

Important Papers?

Please go through your papers and send us all of your medical paperwork. This includes any correspondence or statements you receive from Medicare, insurance companies, doctor's offices or pharmacies. We will then be able to follow through on all medical services you receive.

Leaving for the Summer?

Have a safe trip and a pleasant summer
